A weekend of celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of Vodafone’s first UK mobile call was rounded off with a gig at the famous London venue, Scala, featuring hip-hop legends RUN-DMC, supported by rising star Raleigh Ritchie in front of a crowd of 600.
This was the first time in over a decade that RUN-DMC had performed in the UK, and the performance was a fitting one as they themselves were celebrating 30 years of success as one of the most influential names in music
Most of the audience was made up of those lucky enough to win a ticket via several competition channels, including the Vodafone Store Quiz on 1984G Street. But they were not alone. We also gave fans at home the chance to witness the occasion on their mobile devices and computers, live and in 360 degrees via YouTube channels.
The #30yearsVodafone campaign was a huge success, with the street interacting with over 8000 members of the public and the campaign as a whole generating 63 million impressions on social media.
